Payroll Year End
Year end doesn't have to be stressful, but being well prepared is essential. Here are some simple steps to get you started
1- Check your SageCover contract
To get a year end pack and access downloads and support resources, you must have a valid Sage Cover contract.
2 - Check your software version
It's important that you're using the correct software version for the 2013/2014 tax year. This helps to ensure that you've been processing using the correct legislation, and that you can install your new tax year update successfully.
3 - Check your online submission service is still active
As it's now compulsory for almost all employers to submit year end returns online, you need to ensure you're registered with HMRC and that your online submission service is still active.
If you've previously submitted online, you don't need to re-register, but we recommend that you check your settings. To do this, visit www.gateway.gov.uk and log in. Click Manage services then check your tax district and reference and ensure that your PAYE for Employers service status is active.
If you've not submitted online before, you must register with HMRC for their PAYE for Employers service. To register, visit the HMRC website and from Do it online section, click Register (new users). You can get further information from the HMRC website.
4- Order P60 stationery, if applicable
Although PAYE legislation has changed and you can now choose to provide employees with an electronic copy of their P60, you may still want to provide a paper copy.
